A connected invoice and reporting journey

Four-corner exchange. Corner 5 reporting.

The UAE programme combines structured PINT AE invoice exchange between suppliers and buyers through Accredited Service Providers with a separate Corner 5 tax-reporting path to the Federal Tax Authority. Both paths form part of the Ministry’s decentralised continuous transaction control and exchange model.

Four-corner invoice exchange

Follow the invoice from supplier to buyer.

The Ministry describes a four-corner model for invoice exchange and a separate fifth-corner reporting capability. The service-provider and accounting-software brands can vary; the roles stay distinct.

Supplier · Corner 1

Your business prepares and issues the invoice from its accounting or business system in the required structured data format.

Supplier’s ASP · Corner 2

The supplier’s Accredited Service Provider validates required data, transmits the invoice to the buyer’s ASP and sends the required tax data through the reporting path.

Buyer’s ASP · Corner 3

The recipient’s ASP receives and validates the structured invoice, then delivers it to the recipient’s business system.

Buyer · Corner 4

The buyer receives invoice data in its connected business system and follows its accounts payable, approval and exception process.

Corner 5 — reporting and status: Under the Ministry’s current DCTCE model, the supplier’s ASP (C2) reports a Tax Data Document (TDD) to Corner 5 in parallel with invoice transmission. After successful invoice validation, the buyer’s ASP (C3) also reports its TDD. Corner 5 returns a message-level status. If validation fails, C3 sends a negative status and does not report its TDD. The ASP implements this flow under the current technical requirements; businesses remain responsible for accurate source data, finance controls and exception handling. PINT AE and Peppol

Structured fields make systems interoperable.

PINT AE is the UAE-specific Peppol invoice specification. Its associated UAE e-Invoicing Data Dictionary defines the required fields and rules so different systems can process invoice information consistently.

That is why e-Invoicing is different from emailing a PDF. A PDF may be useful as a human-readable rendering, but the required exchange is structured invoice data that can be validated and processed by connected systems.

Prepare the source

The data behind the invoice matters.

  • Supplier and buyer legal identity and tax details
  • Invoice number, issue date and document type
  • Line descriptions, quantities, amounts and currency
  • VAT categories, tax rates and totals
  • References for purchase orders, adjustments and credit notes
  • Identifiers and code lists required by the current specification

The full mandatory field list and rules are maintained in the official UAE data dictionary and technical guidance.

Where Xero fits

Keep roles clear when you choose your setup.

Your books

Xero

Maintains accounting records and invoice data. Xero’s current UAE e-Invoicing guidance routes users through Invoici for the organisation connection.

Your connection

Invoici and ASP

The Xero setup flow connects the organisation and directs the user to select an ASP through EmaraTax. Xero’s current UAE guide names Casim as its ASP option.

Your process

Finance controls

Your team still needs accurate source data, invoice approvals, issue resolution and clear responsibility for the daily process.

What good preparation looks like

Make the whole journey testable.

Map trading flows

Identify who invoices whom, through which legal entity, system and channel—and which transaction types are in scope.

Check the data model

Compare your current contact, item, VAT and document data against the fields and rules in the latest PINT AE guidance.

Test both directions

Test sending and receiving invoices, plus credit notes, corrections, validation responses and rejected-document handling.

Agree ownership

Document who maintains records, monitors acknowledgements, resolves exceptions and escalates system or provider issues.
